Two significant awards were presented to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7464 in Grasonville last year. Post 7464 Commander Craig Conrad receives honors himself earning All-American Post Commander recognition, as well as the Post earning the National Outstanding Community Service Award. Conrad, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has served as commander of Post 7464 for the past eight consecutive years. He is the first to admit, he has had a strong group of officers at Post 7464 to support him in fulfilling the mission of the V.F.W. to support veterans needs and help strengthen the immediate community.

Each made amazing contributions through helping meet the mission of Talisman TR in the past year. Their awards were presented by QA Commissioner Jim Moran, Event Chair Audrey Scott and TTR Chairman of the Board Diana Saquella.

Children attend the annual United Communities Volunteer Fire Department Breakfast with Santa, Saturday morning, Dec. 7, in Romancoke. The Grinch and Santa were both in attendance, along with other fire department volunteers, prepared to fill the children’s plates with a great variety of breakfast foods. Children were invited to visit Santa too in his house. The new trailer house built by UCVFD President Phil Bowles, replaces the smaller, old house that had been used for 20 years. The house with Santa in it, is towed throughout the neighborhoods along with firetrucks in the south Kent Island communities within the for children to meet with Santa telling him what they want for Christmas this year.
