Lake effect snow coverage and intensity will continue to fluctuate with a gradual decrease today followed by another increase tonight into Thursday morning.

Snow will be commonplace this morning, but will taper off during the afternoon. Gusty winds will last a few hours longer.

Some morning sun will gradually be replaced by clouds with snow arriving by midnight for most areas.

Milder temperatures this morning won't last with a shot of cold Tuesday and Wednesday. Another brief warm up is expected late in the week.

Lake effect snow from three Great Lakes will come and go today and tomorrow, not sticking in any one place too long.

Areas of morning lake effect will become more sporadic this afternoon but a light, widespread snow is on the way for Thursday.

After temperatures work their way above freezing Friday and Saturday, a shot of arctic cold is on the way early next week.

Highs will be near or even above 35 degrees Friday and especially Saturday, only to be replaced by the coldest air yet this season early next week.

Most areas will drop below zero tonight and a few locations could approach -15 degrees. Temperatures begin to moderate on Thursday.

Sunshine will dominate today until some clouds build in late this afternoon. Temperatures tonight will mostly hold steady as south winds pick up.
