Hurricane Milton is significantly strengthening this morning at a rapid pace. Milton is now a category 4 hurricane and expected to continue to grow in intensity. Maximum sustained winds are 150 mph.

Curfew will be instituted for all of Volusia County Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. through 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

Milton’s track is wobbling, and the forecast prediction for landfall could be off by up to 40 miles.

While revelers were still celebrating the ball dropping on 2024, Haizlee Marie Hill was the first baby born in the new year at AdventHealth Fish Memorial. The newborn was born at 12:27 p.m. to mom Summer Bundy and dad Josh Hill, who live in Salt Springs, Florida. Haizlee weighs 6 pounds, 6 ounces and is 19 inches long.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, an encounter between a pair of loose dogs and an eight-year-old boy led to tragedy just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 near Airport Road off of 15-A in DeLand.
