The other day, I was scrolling through the Associated Press website when I came across an article titled “Ohio prison holds first-ever five-course meal open to public on facility grounds.” My first thought and emotion was horror.

As many people know, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I’ve always loved the spooky and creepy, my obsession with vampires starting very young. Because of this love, I have a hard time only having Halloween decor up in October. Only a month for the best holiday? No thanks.

Last week, Netflix announced a new animated show based on “Midnight Sun,” aka “Twilight” written from Edward’s perspective. This comes after rumors of a “Twilight” movie remake earlier this year.

It turns out we all have different ideas on what the Midwest is. As a Wisconsin girl, I have strong opinions on this, opinions I have learned most certainly do not line up with general Iowa sentiment. (And so she doesn’t kick my butt, the other Wisconsin girl in the office most certainly does not agree with me.) Now let’s be clear, this is not meant to be a diss. Just because a place is not in the Midwest by my standards doesn’t mean it can’t still be a great state.
