Our reporters spoke to survivors who recounted moments of confusion, panic and pain in the aftermath of a blast that triggered a thundering sludge.

The Prime Minister’s remarks were part of the resolutions from an earlier closed-door morning meeting, where various stakeholders discussed the tragedy and sought a way forward.

On Monday, Daily Monitor’s Esther Oluka spoke to some the affected Kiteezi residents who narrated how they escaped death by whisker yet their family members are still missing and trauma that they are now living with. Here are their personal stories.

On Saturday, August 10, tragedy befell the locals of Kiteezi, a region in Wakiso District that claimed several lives and destroyed a lot of properties. The affected residents are still coming to terms with the loss of their loved ones and properties. Currently, they are being accommodated in a tent courtesy of Red Cross Uganda at Kiteezi football pitch, near the area’s police post. Monitor’s Esther Oluka yesterday interacted with more affected residents, who narrated their heart-breaking personal stories following the tragedy.
