A Missouri developer is planning a $100 million indoor youth sports complex that he hopes will draw teams from throughout the Midwest.The plans include a hotel, restaurants, retail and an open-air “bourbon garden,” mirroring a national trend.Instead of pristine soccer or baseball fields, developers are pursuing what the industry calls “purpose-built youth sports development anchors” — large-scale, elaborate projects that offer far more than a place for athletic competition.

Members of the park board say in court documents that St. Charles, particularly its mayor, wants to sell the 100-acre property. The board says no.
