NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – An 89-year-old Jacksonville man was killed Monday morning when his pickup truck crashed in Nassau County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

As snow continued to fall Wednesday morning across parts of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida, the National Weather Service Jacksonville asked residents for help.

The rare winter storm that left a wake of snow in Southeast Georgia and ice in Northeast Florida also shut down many government offices, schools and services on Wednesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that at least one person died in the crash, which was reported around 6 a.m. Thursday.
