You couldn’t start a fire here even with gasoline as any step in the woods feels like you are in a bog and the debris down from all the wind that came with the rain is a mess. The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation got the last three days of banding done just in time. The first night working out of Saranac Lake, we traveled to Putnam Pond where we hadn’t tested a loon for quite a while.

The Loranger Lady Wolves Volleyball team will have a new head coach this season in Danielle Faucheux. She replaces Jennifer Rivero, who left to become the head coach at Walker.

Longtime local rivals Albany and Loranger who used to play in the same district played a chippy, spirited scrimmage Wednesday with each team getting in some licks. The controlled scrimmage featured both junior varsity and varsity sessions with a live scored session at the end won by Loranger, 20-13. Both teams enjoyed success running the ball while Loranger’s Colton Morris had the toss of the day with a 47-yard touchdown strike to Landon Chavers. The Hornets will open their season hosting Westminster Christian – Lafayette while the Wolves will be on the road at Independence.

As many of you already know, Karen Lee will not be seen in life again as she passed away from this earth on Wednesday, August 28, after a brief illness with family and friends at her side.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Falcons and Loranger Lady Wolves got together for some volleyball, and it was a good day for St. Thomas as they earned the sweep, winning the freshman (25-20, 25-11), junior varsity (25-17, 25-15) and varsity (25-20, 28-26, 23-25, 25-17) matches.
