Understanding the intergenerational transmission of trauma from parent to child is integral to help mitigate symptoms and diagnoses in youth. Parental trauma symptoms, like PTSD, have established negative impacts on child physical, mental, and behavioral health due to parenting behaviors, home environment, and/or genetics. However, few studies have examined how children view a parent’s parenting behaviors or how that view relates to their own symptoms.
