A Mono Wind Event in the Sierra Nevada brings strong northeast winds to Kern County throughout the day Tuesday. A high wind warning is in effect until Weds. morning across the desert communities.

Parts of the rural valley areas, including Delano and Lost Hills, are under a Freeze Warning starting Wednesday night, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 30 degrees. The warning will be in effect from 7:00 p.m. Wednesday until 9:00 a.m. Thursday. With chilly overnight temperatures, cover any sensitive vegetation and plumbing and bring pets indoors.

Windy conditions expected overnight Thursday in east Kern and LA County, but slightly calmer conditions arrive Friday. Red Flag Warnings are in effect in LA through Friday evening.

After an unseasonably warm Friday, temperatures are expected to dip back down to seasonal normals this weekend. Bakersfield will be in the upper 50s with clear skies both Saturday and Sunday.

Dry, windy conditions continue across central and southern California, and parts of Kern County have elevated fire risk Tuesday. Low humidity levels and windy conditions hang on through Wednesday.

A wind advisory remains in place along the Mojave Desert Slopes through 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, and gusts throughout the day in the mountains and desert could be up to 40 mph.

Red Flag Warnings have been extended through Friday morning, and gusty winds are expected to hang on throughout the day Thursday.

Ahead of this weekend's storm, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Kern County Mountains for Saturday night through Monday.

We're likely to see scattered rain and snow showers early in the day Monday, but conditions dry up by the afternoon. Cool temperatures hang on after the precipitation stops.
