I've been summoned for jury duty and I'm just ill over this development. Mostly, I'm concerned that I have reached some sort of adulthood that allows me to be eligible to judge others in a formal setting. I had no idea I would ever reach this stage of life. I assumed that I would only be judging people in private, but here we are.
World Cup hype is starting to remind me of Y2K. For those of you not old enough, Y2K was quite a dud of an event that we spent quite a bit of time and money planning for back in 1999.
When you can't sleep at night, take a look at the 6th Congressional District that Sam Graves is leaving and we are headed for a humdinger of an election. That district is “Yuge,” as they say in politics. You gotta have a few changes of clothes to campaign in that district. Some Lulus for the suburbs and some jeans for the rural area. I'd say Carhartt for rural, but the suburbanites have commandeered that brand away from the rurals.
The NFL draft is now complete, and we are granted a football break until training camp and if you don't think the NFL owns the average American's calendar, you're not paying attention.
Soccer bros should look the other way. According to an American Hotel and Lodging Association survey that was released this week, the World Cup hype might be, shall we say, “overblown.” According to this association survey, 80% of respondents say hotel bookings are tracking below initial forecasts.

If you are into retirement planning, AI is off the charts good at running scenarios for you. It also learns about you as time goes on, which is scary but makes the scenarios far more personalized than the old school Google searches of our youth. That was so yesterday.

Made the mistake of dipping my proverbial toes into political opinion last week. The race that is dominating my social media feeds is the Nathan Willett vs. Chris Stigall race for Congress and I wrote a bit about it last week and I knew when I hit send that I'd hear from an “acquaintance” that is heavy in the Stigall camp.
The City of Kansas City did not get their temporary jail open in time for the World Cup, the event that they said they needed it for. The government quote is that it is not “fully operational.” A few things in life you probably want to be “fully operational,” and a jail might be one of them. Anyway, close counts in government work and horseshoes, carry on.
Couple words of advice for your 4th of July social media posting. No one is interested in more than approximately three seconds of the fireworks display you are watching. Don't be that guy.
