SPANISH FORT, Ala. ( WALA ) - There was call for celebration in Spanish Fort Monday afternoon, August 19, 2024 when 14-year-old Twyla Tarvin, who’d been missing since Saturday afternoon was found alive and safe. She was found by her mother under a shed near where she was last seen on a security camera.

GULF SHORES, Ala. ( WALA ) - It’s a story for the “dogs” in Gulf Shores this week. The police department there has found itself needing to care for several runaway or lost dogs over the last week and reached out to the public for help with their care. Since that appeal went out, there’s been a huge influx of assistance from residents.

Port Alabama Industrial Center will meet a huge need with about 12-million square feet of Class A industrial space, making it a prime site for everything from container storage and logistics to other industrial and light manufacturing demands.

BAY MINETTE, Ala. ( WALA ) - First responders from across Baldwin County were in Bay Minette Thursday, August 22, 2024 for a full-scale emergency response exercise. The goal was to better coordinate operations and work collaboratively between departments during a hazardous materials crisis.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. ( WALA ) - Work has started on Fairhope’s Working Waterfront project. The project is being paid for through the BP Restore Act and will accomplish several goals, including repairs on the damaged seawall and improvements to the city’s iconic fountain.

MOBILE, Ala. ( WALA ) - A traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Baldwin County early Tuesday morning, August 27, 2024 ended in the arrest of a Houston man for identity theft. Deputies said he had thousands of dollars-worth of forged and stolen checks, forged ID and credit cards and even stolen social security cards.

FORT MORGAN, Ala. ( WALA ) - The state of Alabama has just added more land to Gulf State Park. The79-acre purchase is connected to land the state previously purchased on Fort Morgan and will soon provide additional gulf beach access to the Gulf State Park System.

The last batch of pompano of the season was released into the open waters at Fort Morgan Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Of the millions of fish the hatchery has released over the years, it’s obvious that good things are happening.

BAY MINETTE, Ala. ( WALA ) - Baldwin County has a new Sheriff and Tuesday, September 3, 2024 was his first official workday in his new office. Former Chief Deputy to Sheriff Hoss Mack, Colonel Anthony Lowery was appointed to the position by Governor Kay Ivey after Mack announced his retirement. Both addressed Baldwin County Commission at its meeting Tuesday.

FOLEY, Ala. ( WALA ) - A Foley man currently out on bond for leaving the scene of a fatal accident is behind bars again. This time he’s charged with production and distribution of child pornography. Kaleb Owens appeared in court Wednesday, September 4, 2024 for his bond hearing on the new charges.
