Total staffing this year was at 32 full-time and seasonal employees. After Thursday, all seasonal lifeguards will be released, leaving six full-time staff to work the beaches in the off season. Those lifeguards will patrol the beach periodically and will respond to surf-rescue 9-1-1 calls but will not be monitoring the beach continuously.

Integrity and Loyalty parks will be finished soon, but two more waterfront parks are just in the planning stages and made possible by GOMESA grants from the state.

LOXLEY, Ala. ( WALA ) - A Loxley family has lost everything in an overnight house fire Wednesday, November 20, 2024 including two family pets. The single mother of five was able to get herself and all of the children out. Fire crews from multiple jurisdictions responded but the fire spread too quickly to save the home.

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. ( WALA ) - Two Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies were injured after investigators said a man being charged with child sex abuse fought with them during the arrest. It happened when investigators wrapped up their interview with him. Sheriff’s officials said the fight took place when the suspect tried to take a deputy’s gun.
