Pope Francis told a group of children receiving treatment for cancer in Poland they are “witnesses of hope” to those around them.

“He had a reformist mindset... Pell would look around and think, well, what is to be done? What can we do?” Tess Livingstone told CNA in an interview.

The group estimates over 380 million Christians worldwide experienced at least a 'high level' of persecution and discrimination because of their faith.

A Nigerian woman whose husband was killed by Boko Haram in 2014 has asked for prayers for persecuted Christians and for the terrorist group, “that they will be saved, that Jesus will reveal himself to their heart, so that they will repent.”

The Vatican announced Jan. 22 that Pope Francis had accepted Cardinal Schönborn’s resignation.
