Under Secretary of the Navy Erik Raven will step down in August, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro announced Wednesday. Raven, who assumed the second-highest civilian position in the Navy in April 2022, will have served just over two years when he steps down from his role. As under secretary, he served as the chief operating officer and chief management officer for Navy. The Russo-Ukrainian War continues to slog toward its third year, with Russia pushing into territories in the eastern part of the country, but the U.S. and Ukrainian navies are already preparing for the aftermath once the war ends. The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group is currently in the Eastern Atlantic en route to the Mediterranean Sea. The carrier strike group will likely travel to U.S. Central Command as part of the continued merchant shipping protection mission Operation Prosperity Guardian.
