Leadership was more geared towards managing through fear and ensuring performance through a traditional command-and-control style of management.However, today, leadership styles are very different, we know that leading with empathy, and through non hierarchical structures can be as effective, if not more, than managing firms in that traditional way.No matter how ethical and ‘nice’ your brand is, however, a degree of boundary setting and firmness is still necessary to ensure growth - a business’ main priority is to make profit, at the end of the day.
