The public will get a chance this week to meet with and interact with the current candidate for the role of Dawson Community College president as the process of hiring a new president moves forward. Chad Knudson, the current candidate, will be meeting with college students, faculty and the public on Thursday.

In am effort to address excess leave issues amongst city employees, at least in part, the Glendive City Council’s personnel committee is looking to change the recreation department’s schedule, but not without input from the department’s employees.

The Dawson County Fair Board awarded the contract to operate the beer booth at the fairgrounds during the 2024 Dawson County Fair at its most recent meeting on Feb. 26, deciding to go with a short term option rather than some of the longer-term agreements they were presented with. Overall, three vendors submitted bids for the beer booth with Richey-based business Shorty’s Bar and Grill being the board’s choice to operate during this year’s event.

The Glendive City Council voted to send a proposed new schedule for the recreation department back to the personnel committee for further discussion during their meeting this week at its March 6 meeting.

The Dawson Community College Board of Trustees has voted to move into negotiations with presidential candidate Chad Knudson, taking a significant step towards completing the process of filling the president’s office. The vote to move forward was taken at a special meeting of the board on March 12, with five members voting in favor and one abstaining.

Efforts to rework the Glendive Recreation Department’s schedule appear to have been scaled back as instead of seeking significant changes to the current department schedule, the city’s Finance, Utility, Property and Recreation Committee will recommend the city instead do a better job of posting the current schedules and sticking to the hours designated.

Local Scouts (L to R) Connor Higbee, Carson Fleming and Jimmy Barnick all earned their promotion to Eagle Scout over the last year. All of them entered scouts together when they were younger and have been working towards their promotions for roughly 11 years.

While last week’s meeting of the Glendive City Council was an overall quiet affair, Mayor Deb Dion used her allotted time for mayor’s comments to raise issue with practices she has seen at recent meetings, warning consequences may follow if such actions do not cease.
