It was a busy morning for the Colorado Avalanche with a Gabe Landeskog signifying at morning skate and an extension for depth defenseman Keaton Middleton announced. Still, there is a game to play tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. The Avalanche look to extend their five-game win streak and the Sabres hoping to build on a recent stretch of better play as they avenge the loss in Buffalo against the Avalanche where they let a 4-0 lead slip away.
As the AHL season marches on, the Colorado Eagles are firmly in the mix in the Pacific Division after a 5-3-1 month of December. With an overall record of 16-9-3 and 35 points the Eagles are currently in fourth place but four points separate the second and sixth ranked teams. With seven of the team teams making the playoff “play-in”, making the cut isn’t a concern but the top four teams are guaranteed a game at home so that is the important mark in the standings.
After a lackluster shootout loss in their last contest, the Colorado Avalanche were hoping to get back on the right track against the defending champion Florida Panthers. The message was received as the Avalanche survived a goaltender duel and took a third period lead and secured a 3-1 victory over Florida.
