Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! It’s a new year and that means new beginnings and new opportunities. For some, that might mean finding a new job, moving to a new home, or starting a new relationship. For others, it might just mean getting some new comics. Are those comics good enough to remain the highlight of the whole year? Well, probably not, but we can always hope. Let’s see how we’ll be starting out 2025.

Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! Well the holidays are now over, and we can all recover from the weeks of eating too many sugary foods. All that’s left is making it through the dreary months of January and February before the sun once again graces us with its presence. After almost a year, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has released its last update. The eighth episode of its fourth and final season is titled “Balance” and brings the game’s narrative to a close with players returning to the game’s medieval elseworld, where they will launch a final assault on Brainiac’s citadel fortress. The update also finally introduces an offline mode, which allows access to the campaign and all post-launch seasonal content without an internet connection. Fans will still be able to access the game’s online content for the foreseeable future.

Action. Adventure. Mystery. Intrigue. These are the ingredients for a successful comic, and luckily, this new arc promises plenty of each. One of the biggest appeals of this series from the beginning has been the “back to basics” approach Mark Waid took, focusing on straightforward superhero adventures as opposed to the continuity-laden mega plots of many modern stories. It doesn’t always manage to hit that target, but when it does it’s an incredibly fun time. Batman, Superman, and Aquaman teaming up to fight mind-controlled merpeople and prevent an Atlantean civil war is exactly the kind of stakes that make for the right kind of heroics.

Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! We’re starting to reach the time of year where I’m very tired of winter already, and yet there’s still another 2 months of it. Once that’s over it gets replaced with “cold mud”. We really seemed to have set it up that we get all of the fun Winter stuff out of the way in the very beginning over the course of like a week.
