The homeless are all around us; it takes but the eyes to see, the heart to feel, the hands to help. Those eyes, heart and hands have been the catalyst for a dialogue with the TN Coalition for the Homeless. The organization is interested in possibly funding the construction and subsequent operation of a homeless shelter inside Claiborne County. Talks will commence next week between local businessman Carl Nichols and the Coalition.

If not for the swift actions of the Claiborne Emergency Medical Services team, one woman just might not have survived an apparent drug overdose. And the alleged purveyor of the narcotics might have remained free to deal again.

Confidence is building for the eventual establishment of a homeless outreach shelter inside Claiborne County – quite possibly by the end of this year.
