Excitement bubbled over and good times flowed as Soldiers, family members, civilians and veterans turned out for this year’s Oktoberfest celebration Saturday at The Great Place.

Though I didn’t partake during this visit, I remember my first meal at the popular Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar at Gruene, Texas, several years ago was amazing. The structure has humble beginnings as a cotton gin powered by the Guadalupe River.
