While many luxuriate in reading verbose tomes that could make a doorstop cower (looking at you, Stephen King readers), writing short is a talent unto itself. Being able to write a story in brief takes a wordsmith extraordinaire. One must cull any word that is not necessary. One must assemble sentences and paragraphs that can practically do a magic trick, creating an expansive world with few words that the reader can fall into and roll around in.
