La Matadora Gallery is showcasing artisanal belt buckles that were big in the 2000s, and like so many things from that era, are officially back in style. The metal buckles makde by artist Mikal Winn could be seen hugging the hips of Halle Bery, Britney Spears, and Lucy Liu in the 2000s, and Winn has a big batch of brand new buckles ready to make their debut tonight. Winn, a resident of the Mojave Desert, also makes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, as well as glittering 3-D sculptures. The gallery will also feature another installment of “DEFILED”, a group show in which local artists add on to artwork purchased at a thrift store. La Matadora will be open from 6 p.m to 9 p.m., and feature live music from Bombshelter Alley at 7 p.m. and Los Poncho Tones at 8 p.m.
