LAPEER — You may want to bring along an umbrella just in case you need to dodge rain showers, but Lapeer Days fun and activities continue Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 17-18).

LAPEER — A special meeting of the Chatfield School board was convened at 2 p.m. Friday in order for the board to “have discussion about what our next steps are,” according to board president Nate Muir who addressed a crowd of approximately 120 Chatfield parents and teachers gathered in the school's common room.

LAPEER COUNTY — An unvaccinated 9-year-old quarter horse gelding from Lapeer County on Aug. 23 tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) — a mosquito-borne disease. According to state officials, the horse became ill on Aug. 12 with a fever and was walking in circles, doing head lifting, and vocalizing before it eventually collapsed. It was euthanized on Aug. 12. LAPEER COUNTY — More than 7,000 DTE Energy electrical customers in Lapeer County are without power this morning following last evening's storm. The power outage resulted in the closure of Almont and Imlay public schools today while crews work to restore power.
