Traveling to Québec is like flying to Europe in less than half the amount of time. A quick, 30-minute jaunt takes you to Mont-Sainte-Anne in the town of Beaupré, which is home to the Québec Mega Trail running festival, the largest trail running festival in Canada.

We still have two official weekends of summer left on our UltraRunning Calendar and plenty of events to cover. For September 9-10, we’re highlighting two challenging point-to-point 100-milers, Canada's largest ultrarunning festival and a collection of other fun events in unique places.

Fall is in the air at many events on our UltraRunning Calendar. Leading the list are the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic (NACAC) 50k championships, a 100-miler in Colorado with a big prize purse, another 100-miler in Georgia and a laundry list of others.

This week’s What's Up In Ultra highlights events on our UltraRunning Calendar including a Western States Golden Ticket race at the Grindstone 100k in Virginia, a classic 50-miler in the Green Mountain State of Vermont and a point-to-point 50k in the Cascades of Oregon.

Welcome to the heart of fall when our UltraRunning Calendar seems to pick up the pace. This week we have 60 events happening across the country. In San Francisco, there’s a 50/50 where a world record went down last year, a 240-miler in Moab, Utah, a triple header in the heart of the in the heart of Central Appalachia and more.

We’re nearly a month into fall, but our UltraRunning Calendar is still heating up. Highlights for the weekend of October 18 include Big’s Backyard Ultra last person standing in Tennessee, Surf the Murph 50/50 in Minnesota, Lake Sonoma 55/100k in California, and as always, a ton more.

We finally made it to the last Western States Golden Ticket race in North America for 2023 at the Javelina Jundred on Saturday, October 28, at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Arizona. The 100-mile race has nearly 850 entrants in total, making it one of the largest ultras on the continent, and we spent the last week collecting comments from a handful of key contenders for the four automatic entries into the 2024 Western States. We also asked if they were willing to divulge their costumes.

We’re getting close to the end of the year, but our North American UltraRunning Calendar still has some races where you can either line up at the start or simply follow along. This weekend, look no further than Desert Solstice 24-hour in Arizona, Lookout Mountain 50-miler in Georgia, the Woodside Ramble 50k in California and the Arctic Frog 50/50 in Wisconsin.

ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Golden Trail World Series, the preeminent global trail running circuit, lands in Marin at the Headlands 27k powered by Salomon on September 14 and 15. This 27k looped course features many of the Marin Headlands and Mt. Tam’s most historic trails, Dipsea, Matt Davis, Bootjack, and Coastal to name just a few, collecting roughly 4,000-feet of elevation gain and descent.
