Earlier this year, two of HPPR's high-school interns submitted entries into the NPR Student Podcast Challenge. Since NPR recently published their list of finalists, we're now sharing our Amarillo-based interns' submissions. Hear both podcasts that were produced at HPPR, as well as entries from students across the US.

We all know Steinbeck, but not many know the name "Sanora Babb" — but we should! Don't miss this year's Garry L. Nall Lecturet this Thursay night at 7p in the Legacy Hall of WTAMU's Jack B. Kelley Student Center, where Dust Bowl scholar Iris Dunkle shares the little-known history of Babb, a female author whose writings on "The Dirty 30s" stayed largely unknown until the 21st. century!

What a treat to have Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ashley Sofia gracing the stages of the High Plains with her singular folk-Americana that speaks to resilience, love, betrayal, memory and confidence in one's own ability to overcome ANYTHING life throws at us. After her show in Leoti, KS — but before her show in Amarillo — we welcomed her into the HPPR Studio for a live set and video stream. Check it out!

Thanks to Nashville-based folk duo Goldpine (Kassie & Ben Wilson) for stopping by HPPR Studios in Amarillo for a short live set on the air before they hit the road again! They played a Sunday matinee the night before, and we had to use their van to power the sound. Thankfully, WE HAD FULL POWER for this powerhouse folk band on the air. Thanks, Goldpine!
