- With Christmas just days away many people are taking to the skyways and highways to visit family and friends for the holiday. AAA is anticipating a record number of travellers this year. They say over 119 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles away from home over the next week.

- Dozens of people came out the the Chico Rescue Mission for their first annual Orphan Christmas Dinner. The meal was free and open to anyone in the community, including the homeless, hungry, and those who have no family in the area.

- Shasta County will see significant changes on its Board of Supervisors as three new members take office next week. Among them is Allen Long, who will officially take his seat as the District 2 Supervisor on Monday, January 7.

- The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency held a public workshop Thursday to get public input on a long-term region-to-region transit plan. The project includes the possibilities of expanding both bus and rail service throughout northern California.

The 84th Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale entered into its second day of five on Wednesday. Ranchers from all over the western United States gathered at the Tehama County Fairgrounds for the annual event. The annual sale is not just a big deal for ranchers but also gives the local economy a big boost. Sale manager B.J. MacFarlane tells Action News Now "25 to 30 thousand people come through these gates, and what that means for businesses in the community is astronomical."
