The Town of Alberton has successfully applied for the federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) to help with the creation of housing in the community.

Connecting ATV clubs in O’Leary and Tignish is getting closer to becoming a reality as the PEI ATV Federation and provincial government have reached a pilot road agreement to link

The resignation of Justin Trudeau as leader of the federal Liberal Party isn’t surprising, the writing’s been on the wall for some time.

Miles Boulter, a former chief of the O’Leary Volunteer Fire Department and former chief instructor of the PEI Firefighters Association was recently honoured in a song written by O’Leary firefighter Daniel Deziel. The song, titled ‘Boulter’s Legacy’ was released on Jan. 7, and talks about how Mr Boulter taught courage, strength, and to not back down when facing a fire, or trying to save a life. The Tignish Aces are one of three teams current part of the Prince County Senior Hockey League, with the other two being the Kensington Red-Isle Realty Inc. Granites and the Rustico Mustangs. The league was originally known as the West Prince Senior Hockey League, but was changed this year as more teams outside the West Prince region were becoming involved.

Along with paramedics and police officers, firefighters are part of a small group of trained members and organizations that are known as first responders. If a fire breaks out, obviously, they’re going to be on scene, but they’re also called to medical emergencies.

Dr David Sabapathy, Deputy Chief of PEI’s Chief Public Health Office, said while it can be hard, the health benefits of quitting smoking or vaping can be felt almost immediately. To help Islanders quit, the province offers its Smoking Cessation Program, open to residents, covering 100 per cent of the cost of nicotine replacement therapy products. Submitted photo
