By 6 p.m. ET on Nov. 19, all 30 MLB teams must set their 40-man rosters in advance of Dec. 11’s Rule 5 draft. This is also called the “non-tender” deadline, because it’s when teams must decide whether to offer contracts to players on its 40-man roster. If a team decided to not tender a contract, that player immediately becomes a free agent.
