Halloween is closely followed by Dia de los Muertos celebrations in North Texas. Our Halloween celebration nowadays consists of turning on the porch light and handing out candy to neighborhood kids, while trying to resist eating it first. But there’s a lot more to do for those of you who celebrate, so we’re listing a few here.

Pioneering community leaders and arts advocates Gale Sliger and Sue Clark launch Ellafair: A Celebration of Art, Legacy, and Female Creativity, a new arts market and fair at D. L. Hopkins Senior Center Nov. 1-2. Ellafair will honor the lifelong achievements of female artists while fostering the next generation of creative talent. This inaugural event is named to reflect grace and a communal fair spirit. Ellafair celebrates accomplished women artists in their 80s, and invites art enthusiasts to experience a vibrant showcase of local talent.

La Madeleine adds several new items to fall menu, including savory soups and crepes plus sweet treats like pumpkin streusel muffins.

Tacodeli and Cuvée Coffee are offering guests at all Tacodeli locations a free cup of their special blend of coffee now through Nov. 11. Cuvee coffee is free with any purchase at Tacodeli.

Family Music Theatre will present the Tony-award winning musical Peter Pan November 8-23. Performances will be held at the New Vida Center, 3727 West Kiest Blvd. in Oak Cliff. The show, directed by Dr. Sam Germany, stars Chloe Balthrop as Peter Pan, Mabry Marchbanks as Wendy Darling, and Jacob Zufelt as Captain Hook. The three-week run includes 7:30 p.m. performances on Friday and Saturday, and a Saturday matinee at 1:30 pm. Tickets are priced at $15 for kids and seniors and $20 for adults. Local high school athletes won several prestigious awards from the Texas Rangers Youth Academy. Duncanville High School freshman Braylon Hubbard, Midlothian HS graduate Ana Gonzalez, and Nimitz HS graduate Giovanca Frias all received honors.

Little Women, Mark Adamo’s operatic adaption of the beloved literary classic, kicks off the Fort Worth Opera 2024-25 season Nov. 22 and 24. Performances will be held at the W. E. Scott Theatre in the Fort Worth Cultural District.
