With the giving season upon us, consider giving the gift of life by donating blood. Readers considering giving will have a chance Thursday, Dec. 21, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to donate blood at the Marshfield Senior Center at 427 W. Washington Street, Marshfield. to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO).

Last Wednesday, Dec. 6, started as a regular administrative day for Dr. Thomas Davis III until he took a lunch break and found several people waiting for him in the lobby of the Marshfield VA clinic. Webster County Northern Commissioner Dale Fraker and Greene County Commissioner Bob Dixon were among them.

Timothy Webster is scheduled for an arraignment with Judge Replogle presiding on Monday, Dec. 18. Webster, a Seymour resident, has been charged with three Class D felonies of Forgery following an investigation.

In late October 2023, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services began investigating the cause of lead poisoning in four children who had high amounts of lead in their blood systems.
