A 22-year-old Atlanta man was arrested July 29 on a warrant stemming from a months-old case that accused him of fraud. Alpharetta police said a 33-year-old Milton woman reported to officers in April that she suspected the Atlanta man, who was her former employee, used credit cards from her business for unauthorized purchases.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved a new digital warrant system for law enforcement officers as the county looks increasingly toward technology to increase efficiency. At an Aug. 11 work session, commissioners approved two contracts with Tyler Technologies, a Texas-based company that specializes in software for government entities.

This former Steak ‘n Shake location, 2611 Peachtree Parkway in the Forsyth County portion of Suwanee, will soon house the fast-casual Slims Chicken eatery.

The city of Johns Creek officially opened a pedestrian tunnel at the edge of one of its latest recreation and gathering spaces Aug. 12. The 124-foot-long, 42-foot-wide tunnel provides passage for pedestrians and cyclists into The Boardwalk under Medlock Bridge Road near Johns Creek Parkway.

The Forsyth County Community Foundation awarded $2 million in grants Aug. 11, supporting nonprofits providing youth care, mental health training and essential items like shoes to children in need. The gifts enhance community well-being through targeted charitable giving, foundation representatives and leaders of the nonprofits said.

The Alpharetta City Council will consider a request for a 41-lot gated subdivision off Rucker Road. At an Aug. 17 meeting, council members will review plans for the neighborhood, which is slated for more than 36 acres at 12265 Charlotte Drive. Council members will also hear public comment on the matter.

The Alpharetta City Council recently approved contracts to create a major section of the Alpha Loop that will provide a missing link to the North Point area and Big Creek Greenway. At an Aug. 17 meeting, council members approved a $15.9 million, 18.5-month design-build contract with Reeves Young for an approximately 1-mile trail section from Encore Parkway to Morrison Lake at Haynes Bridge Road.
