Amid a defamation lawsuit against the Diamond District’s developer and other disputes surrounding the planned ballpark-anchored development, the owners of the Richmond Flying Squirrels are now requesting a sit-down with city officials over the multibillion-dollar project’s future.

The development would consist of two three-story buildings totaling 56 units.

The development includes 216 family apartments, called The Warwick, and a 128-unit building called The Cascade that’s restricted to seniors. All of the units are restricted to renters with incomes below 60% of the area median income.

In a hearing Thursday, the case was referred to a magistrate judge and ordered for a settlement conference ahead of the March 22 jury trial, signaling a preference that the case be settled before trial.
