With another name tropical storm, Helene, potentially impacting the greater Savannah area by the end of the week, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SSCPSS) sent a notice to families around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Due to potential impacts caused by Hurricane Helene, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) announced Wednesday afternoon that schools will dismiss early on Thursday, Sept. 26 and be closed for in-person instruction on Friday, Sept. 27.

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) had to postpone its planned facilities check until 11 a.m. Friday morning because of "downed trees and the general state of disarray," according to Executive Director of Communications Stacy Jennings.
