My World is the music industry comeback for KAREN DIÓ. It’s been two years since she last released music. Although her EP is only eleven minutes long in total, it cuts to the chase, covering topics such as mistrust and false idols and fragile male egos. As a bilingual, Brazilian-born woman who is now living in the UK, and is growing a global audience, My World seems to be an appropriate name for an EP by the rising rockstar. The world is her oyster.

Whenever you read about wildfires in the news, it is always haunting to see the images and videos of just how powerful nature can be as we watch with awe at the bright orange flames that can destroy so many homes and natural environments. However, the same can be said for humanity. Wherever we look, there seem to be wars, hatred, and misery in the world. In short, humanity seems to have lost empathy for each other. This is why German metalcore band RISING INSANE have named their new album Wildfires.

Life can take you in multiple directions. When self-taught vocalist Hayley Roughton went to college, she wanted to study music. But her family pushed her to find a career with more stability, so she ended up doing an electrical engineering course and she got a job at a major scientific organisation. She credits her engineering career with giving her the work ethic, organisation, and management to help her with

BETH HART puts her entire being into her music. This is still true on her eleventh album, You Still Got Me, which includes songs dedicated to her family, who have been by her side throughout her twenty-eight year career. Her most recent album – 2022’s A Tribute To Led Zeppelin – saw her covering songs by LED ZEPPELIN. However, she is more than a just a cover artist. She’s best known for songs such as Caught Out In The Rain, Bad Woman Blues, and LA Song (Out of This Town). All of her songs are raw and honest. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and You Still Got Me is no different.

According to society, disabled people should be placed in one of two boxes: pity or inspiration. They should not be viewed as a human being. They should only be viewed as their disability or chronic health condition. Society also have standards for how disabled people should view themselves. If a person complains about their disability, they are shut down by others or patronised. On their new EP,

MOUTH CULTURE are on the cusp of becoming the biggest band in the alternative rock scene. They’ve already done a headline tour in the UK in February and March this year, and are going on another headline tour in November, including a date at the iconic venue The Underworld in Camden, London. In November 2023, they released their EP Mishaps Of My Mid Twenties, which was a raw and unfiltered look into the reality of the ‘best years of your life’.

2014 was a busy year for rock music, which saw releases from both established musicians such as FOO FIGHTERS and SLIPKNOT and debut releases from the likes of 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER and BABYMETAL. With all these releases, it’s obvious that a few hidden gems would be overlooked by casual rock fans. One of those gems is The Night God Slept, the debut album by the Californian metalcore band SILENT PLANET.
