Motorists using State Highway 57 near Plymouth will need to be aware of available detours as a project requiring full closure of a section of that highway is done next week. Signs have been displaying advance notice of the time and dates of the closing for several days, and on Wednesday the Wisconsin DOT announced that the closure is needed to allow work on the railroad crossing north of Highway “PP”.

The person who assaulted a Manitowoc resident in their home is the subject of a search by police in that city. The Manitowoc Police Department said a person residing in the 1200 block of North 9th Street called 911 at 5:24 a.m. last Saturday morning, reporting that someone entered their residence and physically assaulted them.

The widow of Herbert V. Kohler has passed away. Natalie Black Kohler, who held top executive positions at the Kohler Company died at her home on Tuesday at age 74.

The plan, required by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, will guide the allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds for the next five years. Focus within the survey involves needs for housing, services for unhoused persons, community services, assistance to local businesses and community facilities.

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign results are in, and citations and warnings numbered in the hundreds. From August 14th through September 2nd the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency partnered with local law enforcement nationwide to raise awareness through a high-visibility presence, looking for impaired and reckless driving with the hopes of reducing tragedy on the roads, especially during the Labor Day weekend.

The request has gone out from the City of Sheboygan for persons to fill the need for poll workers this November. City Clerk Meredith DeBruin said that poll workers are essential in enhancing the high quality and efficiency of the voting process, and volunteers are being sought to apply through her office at 828 Center Avenue, Suite 103. Applications will be accepted during regular business hours.

WHBL News has received reports that a school bus carrying as many as 40 students was involved in a rollover accident sometime around 7-7:30 this morning. The accident was around Highway “E” and Jay Road southwest of Random Lake.

Agencies from Sheboygan and surrounding counties were called to respond to an accident involving a school bus southwest of Random Lake this morning. The accident occurred at the intersection of Ozaukee County Highway “E” and Jay Road, just south of the Sheboygan County line and southwest of Random Lake. Images from the scene suggest that a late-model, dark-colored SUV collided with the bus, sending it off the road, rolling over onto its side about 10 yards off the road.
