At 6:37am, the National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory for Hancock, Lee, Clark and Scotland Counties across the northern tier of the Tri-States. It remains in effect through 10am Thursday morning.

While you may not see rain falling, go ahead and bring an umbrella with you to work and send the kids to school with an umbrella and a jacket as highs will reach into the low and mid 50s.

By sunrise on Thursday, most places will have seen between 0.10″ and 0.25″ of rain, however, some areas that see a steadier rain may approach 0.40″.

Dense Fog Advisories are also in effect for a wide majority of the Tri-States through 9am Friday morning. Schuyler and Scott Counties in Illinois are not under an advisory, but even those places are seeing very dense fog.

After the second round of rain passes, just about everyone across the Tri-States will pick up half of an inch of rain, with some spots approaching 1 inch.

In addition to the outside chance for flurries in the northeastern tier, a real taste of winter will arrive overnight. Low temperatures will dip to freezing for a wide majority of the region and with wind gusts approaching 35 mph at times, wind chills will become a concern. By the time you send the kids to school on Thursday morning, wind chills will fall into the low 20s for most. This will call for the heavy coats not just for the morning, but just about all day long. Winds will still be gusty from the northwest all day long, near 20 to 30 mph. Temperatures will also struggle to get above 40° in the afternoon, which means wind chills will hold in the 30s.

QUINCY (WGEM) - Wind Advisories are up for Hancock and McDonough Counties in Illinois to begin at 10am Thursday morning, and last through 8pm Thursday night. Wind Advisories are also up for Schuyler and Scott Counties in Illinois to begin at 10am Thursday morning, and last through 12am Friday morning. Wind gusts are likely to exceed 35 to 40 mph across a wide swath of the Tri-States through Thursday evening. However, for counties in the Wind Advisories, gusts may approach 50 mph at times.
