By mid-Saturday afternoon, temperatures will farther reach into the low and mid 50s. This will make for perfect conditions to get those Christmas lights up if you haven’t done so already.

You’ll only need a light jacket with temperatures starting out in the low and mid 40s Monday morning. As the day unfolds, light west to west-northwest winds will help push warmer air into our neck of the woods.

Overnight, skies will start mainly clear to partly cloudy. More clouds will roll back into the picture by midnight, and a few flurries and scattered snow showers may very well roll into the Tri-Sates before dawn on Wednesday. Temperatures will sink back into the mid 20s for a majority of the region, which is near normal for this time of year. Some snow flurries look to continue across our area through early Wednesday morning, shutting off and sliding eastward by noon. Also, as Wednesday progresses, skies will begin to clear as high pressure begins to build in overhead. Temperatures will continue to struggle to reach average highs for this time of year. Wednesday afternoon, much of the Tri-States will hold steady in the upper 20s to low 30s and later in the day, temperatures will begin to decrease early in the afternoon. Overnight, lows will have fallen into the low and mid-teens, with some localized areas approaching 10 degrees.

Later Friday evening, showers will arrive from the west and become steady overnight. The steady rain will continue into early Saturday morning before gradually tapering to light showers throughout the day.

QUINCY (WGEM) - As you drive in to work Thursday morning, snow showers are moving overhead. However much of the snow falling from the sky hasn't yet made it to the ground since there is very dry air in place ahead of high pressure to our north. Later in the morning, a few snow showers should win out across the central and northern tier of the Tri-States, primarily before noon. Any snow that reaches the ground this Thursday will have no problem sticking or laying on the ground because daytime highs will hold in the upper teens to low and mid-20s. With that said, areas near Edina, Missouri, Quincy and Mount Sterling, Illinois may see a few snowflakes from time to time. Places northward near Kahoka, Missouri, Keokuk, Fort Madison and Macomb may get to see anywhere from a few snowflakes to a coating of dry, fluffy snow.

Winter Weather Advisories are in place for Scotland and Clark Counties in Missouri, Lee County in Iowa, and Hancock and McDonough Counties in Illinois. They begin at midnight Saturday morning and last through 9am Saturday.

While sunshine will become increasingly covered by clouds on Tuesday, highs in the mid and upper 40s will make it reasonably comfortable to go on an outdoor walk with your dog.

By dinnertime on Tuesday, skies will be overcast ahead of a disturbance moving into the Great Plains. The low-pressure system will move into central Missouri shortly before midnight, bringing the chance for showers to parts of the Midwest. Across the Tri-States, scattered showers look to arrive in the western tier around 7 or 8pm and slide eastward overnight. This will be a quick-moving system, and just about all of Tuesday night's showers will exit before sunrise on Wednesday. Additionally, with temperatures overnight only falling into the mid 30s across much of the region, just about all of the precipitation that falls will only come in the form of rain.

As Wednesday progresses, mainly cloudy skies will continue through late morning and later turn partly sunny to show some more peeks of sunshine before sunset at 4:42 pm. Winds will be blustery through much of the day, coming from the north-northwest between 10 and 15 mph, gusting to near and just above 20 mph at times. This will cap temperatures in the mid and upper 30s, which is near normal for this time of year. However, the gusty winds will hold wind chills down in the low 30s and near freezing during the afternoon. Later in the evening, skies will become partly cloudy as winds subside. Additionally, the light winds will shift to come from the south, only allowing us to cool into the mid and upper 20s for overnight lows.

If you're planning on getting your holiday travel done on Friday, you may run into some airport delays across the Midwest with gusty winds. High-pressure moving in over the weekend will yield mainly sunny skies and decreasing winds. Highs will return to the low and mid 30s on Saturday, and near 40° in the Tri-States on Sunday.
