| STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New Jersey man involved in a hit-and-run crash on Staten Island was sentenced this week to five years probation, after accepting a plea offer in state Supreme Court, St. George.

Police said it was just after 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, when a 38-year-old woman was approached by an unknown male near 85 East Drive.

It was a crudely etched, red and blue scorpion, and for three decades it's all that was known of the unidentified victim.
