Once upon a time, I wrote a little story about a fellow going to deer camp.

At the muffled report of the 6.5 Creedmoor rifle (a Mossberg Patriot model) the medium-sized whitetail doe ran about 20 steps and collapsed. I was glad to see that, no tracking and looking to find the deer. The scene was in a backfield of a friend's farm, easily accessible with the truck. When meat hunting for deer, which is what most of my deer hunting consists of, this is how I like to do it. Quick and easy, like a trip to the butcher shop. You can judge me for this if you like but it works well to put venison in the freezer.
