Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt is responding to the threat of being arrested over the county's policy on not assisting ICE with civil immigration enforcement. Witt says federal officials have threatened to arrest her personally for what they describe as witness tampering, but she says there's no legal basis for the claim.

There's a major push in Robbinsdale to drum up support for a hefty school referendum as residents are still smarting from a $20 million school district accounting error. The proposal also includes closing one of the district's two high schools, Cooper or Armstrong, which would save $3 million a year.

WCCO has just learned that Wednesday morning's double murder-suicide in Hopkins is related to a fatal stabbing a few hours later in Burnsville. After a man killed a woman and their child at a daycare, Burnsville police responded to a report of woman with stab wounds at a home. They have since confirmed that the two incidents are related.

A civil rights law firm will investigate security issues surrounding an out-of-commission south Minneapolis grain elevator where a Forest Lake teen nearly died after a fall earlier this month. The firm says there is ample evidence of repeated concerns about security issues at the Checkerboard Grain Elevators along Hiawatha Ave.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) is unveiling her plan for a major healthcare overhaul in Minnesota amid her bid for the governorship. "Minnesotans want costs to go down," Klobuchar shared Friday. Her opponent, Republican state Speaker Lisa Demuth's campaign shared a statement saying "the senator’s long career in Washington has only fueled high costs."

Lime scooter company is getting ahead of another planned "takeover" in Minneapolis Friday night. The company has actually banned everyone who rode the scooters on 35W last weekend, and warned others who violated the company's terms of service. ​Lime says riders risk being "warned, fined, or banned from our platform" if rules are violated

Secretary of State Steve Simon says local law enforcement is looking into what he calls a widely discredited Florida-based political group who visited several polling places in Minneapolis impersonating Minnesota voters on primary election day. Those involved posted videos of themselves using hidden cameras online.

Chaska is the latest community that will allow visitors to wander around with a drink during community gatherings. ​The City Council has approved a measure supported by local business owners in a defined area of downtown starting in September. It joins Anoka and Shakopee as cities allowing social districts.

The Baltimore Ravens are Eagan for two joint practices with the Vikings ahead of Saturday's preseason game between the two teams.
