As the daylight hours shorten and the weather turns, the holiday season is upon us. Planning occurs weeks in advance to prepare for a single day of blue-ribbon worthy turkeys and calorie dense sides and fixin's from an oven heated kitchen prepped the night before. Family members traveling from one meal to the next come in from the cold and stuff their bellies with the tastes of passed-down recipes while that one questionable casserole that “didn't quite turn out like the photo on Pinterest” sits undisturbed. The Macy's Day Parade plays in the background while tetrateraphine over indulged guests nap on the sofa. As eyelids close, the day ends and the chaos of hours of cooking has come and gone. On to the next…the rat-race of the holiday season continues.
