Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) and Millikin University have announced a new partnership designed to make earning a four-year degree more accessible, affordable, and achievable for students across the region. This agreement, outlined in a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishes a clear pathway for IECC students to seamlessly transfer into Millikin’s baccalaureate programs, saving students time and money while providing a high-quality education that prepares them for successful careers.

The WSOY Community Food Drive is accepting applications from local non-profit food banks and feeding programs to receive funds from the Food Drive held on October 4th.

October 16, 2024 – HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new helipad located on the north side of the hospital near the emergency department. The groundbreaking is part of the hospital’s $90 million modernization project aimed at enhancing emergency care access and infrastructure.

October 17, 2024 – The Community Investment Corporation of Decatur (“CICD”) has hired Taylor Rawley as its Housing Program Coordinator. Rawley is responsible for continuing to develop and deploy the Decatur Homebuyer Initiative in the City of Decatur. She will lead CICD’s Housing team, which will continue to focus on homebuyer education and housing counseling. This recently created position aims to assist individuals and families in achieving their goal of owning a home. This

October 17, 2024 – The historic Culver House in Decatur is hosting a special event, “Halloween at The Culver House” on October 26th, featuring literary readings and a look into Decatur’s past.

October 17, 2024 – There are only two more Wednesdays left to participate in the United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois’ fall fundraiser, Dine United. Each Wednesday through the end of October, select local restaurants will donate a percentage of sales to United Way.
