Former Prince George's County Council member Jamel “Mel” Franklin was sentenced to 1 year of incarceration Wednesday after more than $130,000 of discrepancies in his campaign finances led to a felony theft conviction.
Though Franklin lives and served in Prince George’s, the charges against him were filed in Anne Arundel County because the Board of Elections is based in Annapolis.
