Bill Rixon and a handful of like-minded Mainers over the age of 60 are due in the Capitol in February to protest a new fossil fuel development.

A gyrfalcon belonging to Wiscasset resident Larry Barnes was chased by an eagle last Monday near Georgetown's Little River. Barnes recovered the bird in Phippsburg that evening.

The funds will be used to help rebuild the working waterfront after the recent storms.

State Rep. Cheryl Golek, who represents Harpswell and part of Brunswick, proposed a bill that would allow mobile homes on single-family lots.

Dr. Marc-David Munk likes writing in the air. "For whatever reason, I find myself a little more sentimental," he said in a recent interview. "I find my writing tends to be more honest than it is on the ground."

Richard Craig Sipe can't remember being bored a day in his life. It's no wonder the poet loves year-round living on Orr's Island. "Long, bleak winters here are good for writing, especially for me," Sipe said in a recent interview.

Glen Gordon isn't one to shy away from a breaking wave. "If there's a wave in sight, Glen will go beelining for it," says his paddling partner, Tom Allen, laughing.

"It's not a sociological commentary," Bob Feldman explains. "It's just an observation on this village and the way of life it represents."

"Orr's Island is the place that's been most important to my life as a writer," says Elise Juska, author of the new novel "Reunion." For Juska, writing about Maine during the pandemic was a way to make her way back to the state through fiction.
