Box Cemetery will hold its annual Decoration Day on Sunday, May 17. Clean-up day will take place the weekend prior at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 9.

Six new members were inducted: Chandler Cramer, Thadan Yandell, Colton Lester, Tiffany Moore, Kendra Kimble, and Peyton Hobbs; and five outgoing seniors received their official stoles for graduation: Bailey Ward, Audri Spears, Rhilee Jones, Clayton Roberts and Lextyn Chappell.

Sallisaw Police have released the name of the 57-year-old man who was struck Thursday afternoon by a Union Pacific train near the intersection of Kerr Boulevard and (U.S. 59) and West Cherokee Avenue (U.S. 64), identifying him as Randy Eugene Cowart.
