Though nothing is official yet – and no one in local races is claiming victory – results of the Nov. 5 election do look promising for the City of Escalon’s Measure P, a one percent sales tax increase.

Looking to bring the Escalon Community Thanksgiving Dinner back to its roots – by bringing the community together – the Escalon Ministerial Association will be putting on the annual dinner once again. It will be staged at the Escalon Community Center on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.

Wherever you turned, inside or outside at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale over the weekend, there were booths and tables filled with holiday gift items, crafts, candy, yard art, specialty toys, homemade jams and soaps, unique crafts and more. It was the annual Holiday Craft Fair, staged Nov. 9 and 10, and nearly five dozen vendors set up shop for the two days. There was also food available along with baked goods for sale.

Once the Thanksgiving leftovers are finally gone, it will be time to usher in the Christmas holiday season, and the Escalon Chamber of Commerce has planned its annual Christmas on Main celebration for Saturday, Dec. 7.
