🏆Alteration: Near Streeterville, Northwestern Memorial Hospital filed the top alteration application last week at 710 North Fairbanks Court. Plans call for an $81.3 million renovation to its existing Olson Pavilion lab and office building across floors 2, 4, 6, 7 and the penthouse, which includes a mechanical penthouse addition on the fourth level. The architect behind the expansion is Allan Krueger.

New York-based Cohen Brothers Realty plans the 25-story West Palm Point with ground-floor retail space and an 11-story garage with a rooftop amenity deck, according to the project's website. The developer has started the permitting process, Palm Beach County records show.

🏆 The largest new development to score permits last week was in Woodland Hills, where plans were filed to build a 300,020-square-foot building at 5909 North Variel Avenue. The $32 million project will have 316 units and stand seven stories tall. It is described as a 100% affordable housing apartment. The developer is listed as “5909 Variel, LP” with Elysian Housing and Capstone Equities as sponsors for the project, per city documents.

Earlier this week, Douglas Elliman announced it was overhauling its technology , including launching a new company powered by Google Cloud AI. Along with the announcement, CEO Michael Liebowitz said the tech upgrade would lead to layoffs at the firm and that he ultimately expected AI to reduce the need for so many agents in the industry.

Fort Worth's public hospital John Peter Smith Hospital filed the state's biggest construction project of the week to build a $300 million central utility plant at 1575 South Main Street on Fort Worth's South Side. Construction on the 113,000-square-foot facility started at the end of June and is expected to wrap up in May 2028.
