The Royals’ season is over, and once the World Series concludes, the off-season will begin. Before the wheeling and dealing begins, we assembled our writers to discuss the season that was and look forward for what could be an exciting Hot Stove season.
What to do?
Everyone knew Bobby Witt Jr. would be good. There were a few questions surrounding Witt, of course. One was “how good is he going to be?” The answer to that, as this season showed, is “MVP-level good.” The other important question about Witt’s Royals tenure wasn’t about him at all; it was “who is going to be his supporting cast?”
The last two World Series contestants who were down two games to none went on to win the series. But overall, the record is far more tilted in favor of the team that wins the first two games—especially the home team that wins the first two games. That’s what we have seen in this particular Series, with the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the New York Yankees twice at Dodgers Stadium.
The Kansas City Royals made the playoffs and even won a series, taking the New York Yankees to four games in the ALDS. It was a phenomenal accomplishment, especially considering how bad the team...
Kansas City Royals fans, myself included, were blown away by the skill and dominance of the 2014 and 2015 Royals bullpen. The centerpiece of that bullpen was Wade Davis, who made the transition from mediocre starting pitcher to, somehow, the best relief pitcher on the planet. Royals fans, myself included, are therefore continually on the lookout for the next Davis.

For a dozen years, Royals Review hosted the annual SB Nation MLB Offseason Simulation, where 30 writers from the 30 team sites would get together digitally over the course of a weekend and, well, simulate the offseason.
