Northeast 4 @ Danbury 5 (SO) - Danbury topped Northeast 5-4 in a shootout Friday. The Generals came out flying in the first period with Jake Gutwirth scoring his sixth goal of the season. The Hat Tricks responded to tie the game at one just over three minutes later. David Utkin netted the goal on the power play. Northeast was unphased by the answer and potted two more goals of their own in the final 5:28 of the opening frame. John Halverson and Jaden Sikura grabbed their first and second goals respectively to put the Generals up 3-1 after one. The second period played the exact opposite of the first. Goaltenders Ryan Nolan and Jack Fialkoff shut their opponents down to keep the score at the 3-1 after 40 minutes of play. Danbury opened the final frame with the spark they desperately needed. Niko Tournas’ fifth and Gates Omicioloi’s seventh goals of the season at 4:32 and 5:52 quickly pushed the game back to a deadlock. The score remained tied at three for nearly 10 minutes before Tournas scored his second of the game. The go-ahead goal came with only 4:54 to play. However, the Hat Trick lead did not last long. Northeast’s Masen Culley tied the game at four on the power play with only 1:17 remaining. The teams would need bonus hockey to decide a winner. Following a scoreless overtime period, Danbury secured the extra point via a 1-0 shootout victory. The Hat Tricks improve to seven points on the year (3-7-1-0) while the Generals grab the loser point to push their total to 10 (4-4-1-1).

Northeast took home a defensive, overtime victory on Long Island tonight. Both goaltenders showed out in the game as neither allowed a goal in regulation. General goalie Jascha Grossenbacher stopped all 46 shots in his overtime shutout. Shark goaltender Turner England stopped 43 of 44 shots in the loss. Matej Dvorsky played hero, potting the overtime winner for Northeast. The Generals earned their eighth point (4-5-0-0) of the season with the win while the Sharks grabbed their sixth point (2-8-2-0) with the loss.
