How can the playoffs be a discussion when the Sabres could end the night last in the East?

The Sabres players were told when they arrived at the arena Monday that Pegula was in town to speak to them. It's believed to be the first time since his early years as owner that Pegula has spoken to the Sabres en masse during the season.

General Manager Kevyn Adams was reportedly told Monday he was safe. If that's the case – and it's a shaky one at best – then these players better have their phones by their sides during Wednesday's off day. It would be incomprehensible for the Sabres to make no roster moves in the wake of this disaster.
