This system should produce a quick shot of valley and mountain snow and likely will have an impact on travel conditions Wednesday into Thursday.

Scattered snow is likely with enough snow to continue to produce icy road conditions overnight into Thursday morning.

Widespread light snow is possible over SW Montana with the best chance for accumulating snow to be along and east of the divide Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.

There will be localized areas of blowing snow as well and this could produce low visibility travel hazards in some areas.

Plan on air temperatures to fall between –5 to –25 below zero this weekend and wind chills will likely be –20 below zero or colder at times.

As skies clear by Sunday afternoon, look for air temperatures to fall well below zero by Monday morning and with air temperatures between –10 to –30 below zero

Dry and cold air will deepen by Sunday into Monday with temperatures gradually moderating beginning Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures this week will remain colder than normal, but the extreme cold is not expected to continue for SW Montana.

Blizzard Warnings are across Central Montana Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. Stronger surface winds is creating blowing and drifting snow around Lewistown.

This time of the year when a strong ridge pattern develops so too does strengthening valley inversions. Inversions can be particularly strong in western Montana
