Snow accumulations will be highly varied, but enough snow and icy road surface will create hazardous conditions for mountain passes Thursday into Friday.

A weak system is producing scattered rain and mountain snow mostly over western and NW Montana with only a slight chance of a few showers for Butte and Bozeman.

Light snow accumulations are possible for mountains and a few mountain passes Wednesday night but most valleys should see light rain.

A trough pattern is slowly developing over the Pacific NW and an area of Low-pressure is developing on the bottom of the trough.

Most of this storm will remain south of Montana so travel conditions are not expected to be as wintry as Wyoming.

There will be several chances for wrap around moisture bands around the surface Low to produce off and on snow showers over SW Montana.

Please check the forecast frequently if you have travel plans through the next 7 to 10 days as travel conditions at times could be challenging especially over mountain passes.

This storm has plenty of moisture, cold air, and powerful wind gusts. That combination will produce hazardous travel conditions especially for mountain passes.

One area is the Livingston region which is under a Wind Advisory Wednesday morning through Thursday morning. Sustained wind 30 to 40 mph is likely with peak gusts up to 60 mph

There is a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY issued from 2 pm Friday through 8 am Saturday for northern Gallatin county including Bozeman Pass.
